The Solvang Senior Center has an opening for a part-time Kitchen Manager
Job Title: Kitchen Manager- Solvang Senior Center
The Solvang Senior Center is looking for a well-organized, enthusiastic, people-oriented person to head up daily operations of the kitchen in our new 5,700 sq. ft. facility.
Position Overview:
The Kitchen Manager will oversee daily food service operations, ensure health code compliance, and manage any/all food preparation. Responsibilities include managing inventory, maintaining equipment, training volunteers/staff, and possible special event catering.
The position is a part-time 20+/- hours per week at $28-$30 per hour DOE. It is a non-exempt position reporting to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
• Food Service: Order, pick up and plan distribution of prepared food from Atterdag Village-dine in and take out. Plan occasional special events, lunches, and healthy meal demonstrations.
• Safety and Sanitation: Maintain a clean facility, adhering strictly to health and fire codes.
• Inventory and Purchasing: Manage food storage, order supplies, and adhere to budget guidelines.
• Equipment maintenance: Ensure all kitchen equipment is in working order. Schedule repairs when necessary.
• Compliance: Maintain necessary licenses (Food Handler certification for self and staff/volunteers). Coordinate with Health Dept. Inspectors.
• Staff/Volunteer Management: Train and supervise volunteers and/or staff in safe food preparation and handling and cleaning.
Requirements:
• Experience: 1-3 years of kitchen management experience (ie). school, non-profit environment, restaurant.
• Certification: Valid Food Handler’s License and/or Food Safety Manager certification.
• Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and volunteer management skills.
• Physical Ability: Ability to lift 25 pounds, bend, and stand for long periods.
• Other duties as assigned.
