We’re thrilled to share a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of our new space with photos and timelapse videos.
Update for September, 2026: Things are REALLY coming together at our new building on Maple Street. With our new building we have decided to give it the more appropriate street address of 1770 Maple Street and the site will become Elings Square. With just a month or two before completion things are getting exciting with preparation for moving into our new HOME.
The most recent work has been getting the parking lot pavers installed. It has been a chore to get the proper grade level of the parking lot just right so that there is proper drainage and a good solid surface for the paver bricks in the parking lot
Inside things are coming along nicely. The flooring has been installed and the movable room divider “walls” have been put in place so that we can have several activities separated out on the main floor. We are still waiting for the electricity to be hooked up to the main power panel so that we can get off our temporary power source and hook up all the lighting and equipment inside the building.
The construction camera has been discontinued since we have removed the temporary construction office that the camera was mounted on. From now on we will be giving photo updates of the new building instead of the time lapse videos.
There are many more hours of work to go until things are finally ready for us to open the doors to you all, but we can guarantee it will be some time soon in the coming months, right now we can really see some pretty amazing things happening!
How much longer?
We are not going to promise exactly when things are going to be completed, but we can tell you things are going along quite smoothly! We are hoping to be in our new home by Fall! Halloween just might be one of the first of many holidays that we will celebrate in our new beautiful space!

Here is a look at the new upper level Entrance to the center.
With the building facing Maple Street the decision was made to “correct” the address of the Solvang Senior Center to 1770 Maple Street.
The moveable room dividers walls are in place and you can start to see how we will have the ability to create different spaces for all our activities. Our new modern kitchen has all of its appliances in place.
The patio pavers are in place for the outside spaces. The bocce ball court is in place and we are excited to offer that activity to members after we open. The pavers in our parking lot are now in place and we are ready to have the lines added to mark off the parking spaces.
It is almost completed!

Here is what will be happening soon:
Completing the Utility hookups for water gas , electric and internet.
Completion (and certification) of the Elevator in the building.
Final touch up on paint.
Bringing in the furniture prior to move in.
Opening the Doors for the New Center.
