The Center connects seniors to area non-profits which address a variety of needs.
A full service retirement community located at 636 Atterdag Drive, Solvang. Atterdag Village provides daily meals to the Center and is a terrific resource for our seniors as they progress through the different stages of life. Many enjoy a rich, full life. Center members are also residents of Atterdag and take part in Center activities as well as activities on their campus. Atterdag and the Center work together to ensure that our active aging adults enjoy a rich full life.
Veggie Rescue is a Valley non-profit whose mission is to eliminate food waste while providing nutritious organic vegetables to those touched by food insecurity. Although their main focus was originally the Valley seniors, families, and schools, Veggie Rescue now travels up and down Santa Barbara County & Santa Ynez Valley in an attempt to provide quality food to individuals and institutions which focus on battling food insecurity. Veggie Rescue drops off beautiful organic fruit, vegetables and, when available, other organics to the Center. They partner with us in contributing to the health and well being of our seniors.
AARP partners with the Center annually during tax season to provide free tax preparation service to low-moderate income individuals. Several well trained preparers, many who have retired from a career in finances, devote themselves to helping individuals (on an appointment only basis) twice a week through out the entire tax season. The Center is honored to offer this service at our facility knowing that we are able to provide relief to many individuals who would otherwise incur a a financial burden.
We also partner with AARP (when available) on a two-day safe driving program for those 65 years and over with low and moderate income. This program is offered at the Center and led by an AARP trained instructor (coming back soon!)
Area Agency on Aging
The Center partners with Area Agency of Aging/HICAP and serves as the only location in the Santa Ynez Valley to offer pre-arranged, in-person assistance with a trained Medicare representative.
Santa Ynez Valley Transit
SYVT transports individuals throughout the Valley for a very modest fee. Additionally, they offer local seniors a convenient door-to-door service arranged through Dial-A-Ride. As a partner, the Center offers members discounted passes for bus rides.
People Helping People
A fully inclusive social services organization, People Helping People is the partner we turn to when folks come to us with social services needs: Food, housing, medical assistance, mental health care, family health care and more. People Helping People is literally right around the corner from the Center and we rely on them to help our seniors in need.
Solvang Friendship House
We connect members and their families experiencing memory loss challenges to the Solvang Friendship House. This nonprofit provides a wonderful live-in and daycare facility focusing on the needs of those with memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimers. The facility offers a safe place for residents and day residents with the help of well trained staff and around the clock supervision. It is a comfortable home away from home, welcoming family members and friends to continue to be engaged partners in their loved ones lives.
C.A.R.E 4 Paws
When low-income seniors need veterinarian care for their pets, the Center refers to C.A,R.E 4 Paws. This partner can travel anywhere in their mobile clinic and provide a wide array of services for our seniors dearest companions.
